What is Articulis?
Articulis is a software application for orthopedic surgeons. It can be used to plan an orthopedic operation. It is currently being used for joint replacements and fracture refixation, but there are other operations that may benefit from Articulis.
What does Articulis do?
Articulis is a planning system for surgical procedures. When a plan has been made for the operation, Articulis predicts the mobility of the joint. In this way, the surgeon obtains an idea of the range of motion that can be expected after the operation. In addition to this, complications with respect to range of motion can be detected at an early stage.
Can my surgeon use Articulis?
To plan surgery, the Articulis software application needs image data of the patient. In most hospitals scanning equipment of various types is present. Examples are a CT scanner, which makes use of X-rays, and an MRI scanner, that uses magnetism to look inside the patients’ body. For difficult operations it is often standard procedure for surgeons to use these scanning devices.
The system itself is very easy to operate. After the scanned images have been loaded, the surgeon can plan the surgery with a small number of buttons. Articulis has been specifically designed for a number of operations and takes the surgeon through a series of simple dialogs to create a plan for these operations.
If you think your surgeon may benefit from Articulis, you can bring this website to his/her attention.
